Professional MARA college total engagement

Perhaps, one of the most comprehensive programme ever seen in Pos Betau was done by UK-bound students from MARA Professional College, Banting, Selangor in late 2014. They were there for 3 days, engaging themselves with CSR work, visiting Semai villages, played football and volleyball with them at Kg Simoi Baru, had telematches with the folks at Pos Betau, treated them with BBQ and had a great time engaging themselves with the local Semais. I wish more students could do like what these bright students had done.

Teaching good manners to the Semai

UiTM remains the top local University to engage themselves with the local Semai every year. Late in December 2015, Business students from the main campus in Shah Alam, Selangor came to Pos Betau to teach and educate them about good manners & practises in Islam. They also engaged themselves with the locals in Kg Sentoi with telematches, which were well received by the Semai kids.

A favourite place to do your CSR

The basecamp continues to be a favourite destination for students and casual visitors alike. The most recent being the "Rakan Muda" program, whereby youths engaged with the local Semai subtribe and did their deeds by cleaning the basecamp compound, including the Surau.

 

The surau continues to be the centre where the Semai receives their free Islamic lessons, free breakfast and free lunch - courtesy of Ecolife basecamp, every Tuesday, every week, every year since 2011. They also receives free dry food supply from time to time, as well as used clothes which were distributes around the 18 villages from well wishers.

Free Arabic and Islamic lessons are conducted every Tuesday by volunteers.

A good meal is provided to the Semai after Tuesday class every week- courtesy of the basecamp.
